Proceed to Habarana Trincomaleee A6 road up to Kantale junction and proceed to kantale mutur road up to 7.5km fro kantale town .and turn left and proceed to Wan Ela road, Near to 7 km post the tank bund is situated at right hand side of the road

Wan Ele does not have a catchment of its own and is filled by diverting drainage flow of Kanthale spill stream. Water in the Kusumakade- Wan Ela drainage canal is diverted to Wan Ela tank by the diversion Anicut with two radial gates. It has catchment of 1.10 sq.miles and a capacity of 2000 ac.ft (FSD-13.5ft) and command of 1576 acres .It has to be filled at least 3-4 times during a cultivation season. Any excess water flowing in the Wan – Ela inlet channel collected from the sugar factory area could be diverted to Kusumankade – Wan Ela by sand bagging at the 1st and 2nd causeways of the inlet channel.
